An RAF Flight Sergeant was walking along reading a letter from his wife. He was so engrossed in the letter that he didn't notice a young army officer walk the other way until:
"STAFF SERGEANT, STAFF SERGEANT DON'T YOU FEEL IT NECESSARY TO SALUTE ARMY OFFICERS!?"
After throwing one up the FS replies
"I do apologise Sir, I was a little distracted, it won't happen again. I should tell you though Sir I am a Flight Sergeant not a Staff Sergeant"
"Three stripes and a crown......if you were in the army you would be a staff sergeant"
"No Sir, If I was in the army I would be a Brigadier"
